THE
LEGEND OF UNCERTAIN TEXAS
When
Bill Mackie, an active Army captain is assigned to tear down an old
abandoned Army base in the swampland of Uncertain, Texas, we don’t realize
at the time that he grew up there. In the late 1960s Bill’s father worked
for the Army when Bill was only 12 years old. His assignment with the
Army was to come up with a Chemical that would make a soldier a killing
machine. When he was asked to change the chemical so that it would speed
up the process, everything went bad. The volunteer men were killing
each other. The project was scrapped. The day that they were dumping
the chemicals in the river to get rid of them, Bill’s younger sister
Amber fell off the dock and swallowed a bunch of water. Not long after
that, Amber took an ax and killed her father. With the help of a friend,
Bill took his mother and sister deeper into the swamps to hide them.
The friend cared for them while Bill went off to military school. Till
this day in the summer of 2001 Bill has never returned, because of being
afraid of what he might find.
No one in town recognizes Bill, except the beautiful librarian, who
thinks he looks like a boy she went to school with.
Bill learns from the local sheriff that Uncertain does have a legend.
A legend that there are more people missing per capita in that small
town than any state in the USA. Amber has been on a killing spree for
30 years. The old friend that helped the family years ago does recognize
Bill and persuades him to go into the swamps and search for Amber and
kill her. The whole ordeal plays with Bill’s emotions. He eventually
gets some comfort from the librarian who in time figures out who he
is.
There is a lot of emotion, action, suspense, romance, and plenty of
killings. Everything turns out for the best in the end, but we do discover
that Amber had a baby!!!!!!
